Iran planning to raise capacity of trade ports to 217m tons

EghtesadOnline: Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Saeednejad said his organization is planning to raise the capacity of its trade ports from the existing 209 million tons to 217 million tons.

Talking to IRNA on Monday, he said the container capacity of Iran’s commercial ports too will grow to five million TEU this year from the current 4,860,000.

According to the official, the organization is also working on projects to enhance investment, implementation and management of container terminals in Shaheed Rajaie port as well as other ones in north and south of the country.

He said the Ports and Maritime Organization is eying absorption of foreign and domestic investments amounting to rls 30,000 billion this year.
