Iran not directly involved in Mosul operation: Velayati

EghtesadOnline: Iran is not involved in Mosul operation directly, Head of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali-Akbar Velayati said.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting with Brazil Undersecretary General Responsible for Africa and the Middle East Fernando Jose Marroni de Abreu on Wednesday.

Iran has always given advisory help to the Iraqi government but is not directly involved in the Mosul operationy, the official added.

According to IRNA, he said that Iran has not and will not interfere in Iraq’s internal affairs.

Criticizing certain states’ interference in Iraq, Velayati said that the Iraqi government is capable of defeating terrorists in Mosul.

Presence of certain states’ forces in Iraq without the country’s permission is against the international rules and regulations, he added.
