US wrong policies responsible for terrorism proliferation: Senior MP

'We need to confront the roots and sources of terrorist ideologies,' Alaeddin Boroujerdi told Louis Gautier, Secretary General for France's Defense and National Security.

'We should prevent dire conditions in Syria and Libya from happening again,' Boroujerdi said, describing terrorism as a global problem.

The Iranian senior Member of Parliament said that it is not surprising if the Takfiri terrorists manage to recruit from amongst young people in some of the poor countries across the region, reports IRNA.

'But it stays with the think tanks in France and across Europe to explore the main cause for the younger generations in the West teaming up with the terrorist groups,' he said.

The secretary general for France's Defense and National Security, for his part, said that Paris believes terrorism is rooted in violence.

'We think that we should not allow young people to follow the terrorist trend,' Gautier told the visiting Iranian Member of Parliament who is in France at the official invitation of the French parliament.

Referring to the large population of Muslims living in France, he said Paris sees necessarily no links between Muslims living in the country and the extremist groups.

We should find a right way to address the issue of terrorism, he said.
