Pakistan says in contact with Iran over IP gas pipeline project

EghtesadOnline: Pakistan Foreign Ministry says both Iran and Pakistan are in contact with each other to complete the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project.

“Pakistan and Iran are in contact with each other to take forward the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nafees Zakaria said at his weekly news briefing.

The 56-inch diameter pipeline will initiate from South Pars gas field Iran and end at Nawabshah Pakistan covering a distance of around 1,931 kilometer with 1,150 km portion in Iran and 781 km in Pakistan, reports IRNA.

China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPPB) – currently engaged with the $1.4 billion Gwadar-Nawabshah LNG terminal and pipeline project in Pakistan is also keen to work on the remaining 80km portion of the gas pipeline from Gwadar to the Iranian border to implement the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
