Iran, Russia underline expanding anti-terrorism cooperation

EghtesdaOnline: Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani met with Russian Federation Council chief Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko in Tehran.

Matviyenko, who arrived in Tehran on Sunday afternoon leading a parliamentary delegation, met with his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani, where both sides stressed the necessity of expanding international anti-terrorism cooperation, according to ISNA.

In a joint press conference that was held after their meeting, Larijani said both countries enjoy satisfactory level of cooperation, adding Tehran, Russia can maximize their relations in different sectors including finance, politics and energy.

Matviyenko for her part stated that Iran and Russia have commonalities which can benefit the expansion of mutual cooperation.

“We have good cooperation with Iran on fighting international terrorism, “Matviyenko added.

During her two-day visit to Tehran, she is due to meet President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif.
