President says removal of UN anti-Iran sanctions is his red line

EghtesadOnline: President Rouhani said that lifting of the United Nations Security Council's resolutions against Iran is 'my red line' and that he would not accept any further agreement before that.

The President who was on a day-long visit to Alborz province near Tehran on Wednesday made the remarks in a meeting with provincial officials, IRNA reported.

'Once I was asked in a meeting if we can succeed to remove the UN sanctions against the country and I said ‘Yes’. I made a provision that all resolutions of the Security Council must be removed and it should happen. This is my red line,' President Rouhani said in a strict tone.

The landmark nuclear deal with the world six major powers was a 'great job' done by the Iranian nation and its leadership, he stressed referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in July 2015 by Iran and members of the Group 5+1 (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) to end over a decade of nuclear dispute between the two sides.

Even the Zionist regime has acknowledged that the JCPOA was a victory for Iran, said the President.

Resisting against all problems, the Iranian nation has succeeded to conclude the nuclear deal with victory, President Rouhani stressed.

He further noted that Iran is heading towards self-sufficiency.

'Today, we have to modernize our agriculture, and we have to use our water supplies in a proper way,' said the President while commenting on environmental problems.

After his meeting with the provincial officials in Alborz province, the President attended a press briefing with reporters where he said that the JCPOA has created an appropriate atmosphere for the presence of the foreign companies in Iran.

Some of the agreements with the foreign companies have been finalized and the others are to be, the President noted.
