Iran, Azerbaijan should use existing capacities for boosting cooperation: Minister

EghtesadOnline: Minister of Communications and Technology Mahmoud Vaezi said that Iran and Azerbaijan Republic should utilize existing capacities to promote cooperation in all fields.

In a meeting with Azerbaijan Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov on Wednesday, he referred to further development of bilateral ties, describing historical, religious and cultural bonds between the two nations as strong which should be used in line with deepening mutual cooperation, IRNA reported.

Vaezi is in Baku to take part in the ongoing International Exhibition of Communications and Information Technology Baku Tel 2016.

Vaezi also voiced Iran's interest to promote cooperation in fields of agriculture and watershed management.

Stressing the need for boosting cooperation to prevent natural disasters such as earthquake, he said that the two countries should make optimal use of each other's experience.

Enhancement of banking cooperation and lowering preferential tarrifs can contribute to the two countries' economic relations, he said.

Heydarov, for his part, referred to further development of economic collaboration between the two countries, saying that they are ready for decreasing customs tarrifs such as preferential tarrifs.

Pointing to Iran's high capacity in producing agricultural productions and progress of technology in the country, he said that extraterritorial cultivation will meet a major section of demands.

Joint investment in oil and petrochemical sectors and establishment of pharmaceutical factory in Azerbaijan will contribute a lot to development of economic ties, he said.
