Rouhani: Germany, Iran's major trade partner in EU

EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that Germany is regarded Iran's major trade partner in the European Union.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg.

Both countries enjoy high and extensive capabilities and facilities to help joint venture investment in various fields, President Rouhani said. 

According to IRNA, President Rouhani said that Germany has found its own status among European countries for Iran and that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes expansion and deepening of relation and cooperation with Germany. 

President Rouhani said that Germany played a very significant role during nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1.

Germany is expected to continue with its role for precise and comprehensive implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). 

President Rouhani said that level of relations and cooperation between Iran and Germany has enhanced in post- JCPOA era, calling for removal of roadblocks to speed up further progress in other sectors as insurance and banking ties. 

Grounds are well prepared for expansion of cooperation in technical and engineering sectors such as construction of power plants and railway, he said. 

President Rouhani said that Iran and Germany have also enjoyed very consolidated cultural ties and affinities, calling for cooperation on culture and academic research and arts. 

President Rouhani said that terrorism posed major threats to the international community, calling for collective cooperation of all countries to help maintain stability and security of the region and fight against terrorism.

The new German ambassador submitted his credentials to President Rouhani and said Berlin is determined to enhance level of cooperation in all fields mainly in modern technology know-how. 

Germany is fully committed to sound implementation of the JCPOA and is to spare no efforts to this end, said the German ambassador. 

Berlin believes that sound implementation of the JCPOA will be to the benefit of both countries, region and the entire world, he said. 

Berlin believes that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a very significant role in the region to help resolve regional issues and that settlement of the regional disputes will be impossible without Iran's involvement, the German ambassador said.
