Iran's Constitution not discriminating against followers of religions: Larijani

EghtesadOnline: Speaker of the Majlis (Parliament) Ali Larijani said that Iran's Constitution does not discriminate against followers of different religions and is the same for all.

He made the remarks in a meeting with members of Majlis from the Christian, Assyrian and Armenian communities to congratulate them on the occasion of the new Christian year, 2017.

According to IRNA, Larijani stressed that followers of all religions are coexisting in Iran in a peaceful atmosphere.

'Like other divine prophets, Jesus Christ (Peace Be Upon Him) was the messenger of peace and friendship and his justice-based doctrine should serve as a guide for the people,' he said.

Followers of various religions in Iran are living together in fair treatment by Law, he noted.

The lawmakers of the Iranian religious minorities thanked Larijani for sending congratulatory messages to his counterparts in Christian countries on the occasion of the new Christian year.

Referring to the present situation in the region, they underlined the need for maintaining unity and consensus in the society.
