Iran to receive another uranium batch from Russia Feb. 7

EghtesadOnline: Iran will receive the final batch of a 149-ton yellow cake (natural uranium) shipment from Russia on Feb. 7, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said.

Last week Iran received three consignments and the last batch is expected to be imported on Feb. 7, Kamalvandi said.

He added that Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the imports, adding that Iran will continue uranium extraction as well, ILNA reported.

Giving the fact that Iran’s uranium output is less in comparison to the world’s major uranium producers, the imports will contribute to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear industry.

Iran has imported 359 tons of uranium from Russia and other countries over the last year following the implementation of the nuclear deal.

Iran and the P5+1- the United States, France, Britain, Russia, Germany and China - started implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA aka nuclear deal ) on Jan.16, 2016.

Under the nuclear deal, Iran can sell its enriched uranium material and buy natural uranium or yellow cake in return.
