Answering a question, Qasemi called the Ontario action unacceptable and said, “The order is against immunity of the states and their property from lawsuits.”
According to IRNA, he noted that the Canadian court has issued the order without considering the international laws including the Sovereign Equality of States.
Iran has declared its official protest to the Canadian government through related channels and preserves its right to adopt required political and legal measures in this regard, Qasemi noted.
The Ontario court has allegedly ordered the government of Iran to pay the legal costs of victims of terrorist attacks.
The court ruled that Iran would have to pay the $300,000 legal bills of the victims, who had sought compensation in the Ontario court under the Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act.
