Minister underlines Iran, Iraq expansion of cultural ties

EghtesadOnline: Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi Amiri said that expansion of cultural and economic relations between Iran and Iraq are necessary considering commonalities in beliefs.

He made the remarks in meeting with Head of Iraqi parliament Endowment and Religious Affairs Commission here on Sunday.

According to IRNA, the two countries have intention to expand cultural ties, but it needs a mechanism to be strengthened.

Amiri said that within the framework of cultural relations, joint cultural exhibitions might be held and through these exhibitions exchange of cultural and art experiences between the two nations will take place.

In addition to the existing friendship groups between the two countries, other friendship associations like endowment, charity should be established and expand bilateral relations in these fields as well.

Ali al-Alaq said that considering world situation and conspiracies of the world hegemonic powers against Islamic states expansion of unity and strengthening relations between Islamic states needs a strong mechanism.

He said that Iran has important role in creating unity and proximity among religions and Muslims.

Al-Alaq said that “Unity Week”, Quds World Day, and creating proximity between Muslims thoughts are among Iranian works in this direction.

He added that we are trying to establish a university in Iraq by name of “Religious Proximity.”

Concerning terrorist actions of Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group), he added that Iran has played important role in support of Iraqi people against inhuman works of the group.
