Iran's achievements in peaceful nuclear industry impressive: Official

EghtesadOnline: Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the Organization’s achievements in the past Iranian year (ending on March 20, 2017) had dramatic growth compared with the previous year.

Salehi made the remarks here on Sunday during his address to the ceremony on the 11th anniversary of Iran’s National Nuclear Technology Day with attendance of President Hassan Rouhani.

At the ceremony, Salehi announced that three nuclear projects will be inaugurated today in line with the country’s nuclear successes, IRNA reported.

According to Salehi, the projects included the first phase of a center for the industrial radiation using rhodotron accelerator in Qazvin Province, a center for producing the nuclear medicines using PET (positron emission tomography) in Alborz Province and the first factory of the radiometric storing of the uranium ores in Yazd Province.

Salehi went on to say that after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), good facilities have been provided for the nuclear interactions.

Elaborating on Iran’s nuclear successes, Salehi said that with the ultracentrifuges manufactured by the nuclear experts in the country, Iran is now in the list of four world countries and also the first in the Middle East region which enjoys this nuclear knowledge.

AEOI’s macro-policy aims to turn Iran into a hub of production of radio medicines in the Middle East region, Salehi noted, adding the country exports its radio medicines to different states including India, Pakistan, Egypt and Lebanon.

On Iran’s international nuclear interactions, Salehi mentioned the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) as an example in which the process of Iran’s membership is in its final phase.

Furthermore, Salehi stressed that the country at present exports its heavy water to the international markets, a develpmemt considered to be a great nuclear achievement.
