70th Cannes Film Festival started by Farhadi’s speech

EghtesadOnline: The 70th Cannes Film Festival will be begun by the speech of Iranian prominent director Asghar Farhadi.

Farhadi will be the first speaker of the Cannes Film Festival and following his speech, the important event will be started.

Farhadi won Iran’s first best foreign language Oscar for his film A Separation in 2012. His second Oscar for The Salesman put him in an elite category of double-winners in the category, including Federico Fellini and Ingmar Bergman, according to ISNA.

The Salesman premiered at Cannes last May, where it won best actor for Shahab Hosseini and best screenplay for Farhadi.

The Cannes Film Festival, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary, will be held from May 17 to 28.
