Iran, Russia, Syria, Iraq alliance not provisional: Security official

After serious participation of Russia in fight against terrorism in Syria, Tehran-Moscow relations has hit strategic military and defensive levels at both operation and command fields, Shamkhani said.

According to IRNA, he noted that supporters of Daesh (the ISIS terrorist group) and other terrorist groups propose resolutions to the UN to support terrorist groups and prevent resolution of crisis in Syria and Yemen.

Alliance between Iran, Russia, Syria, Iraq and Lebanese Hezbollah movement changed equations in Syria and helped liberation of Aleppo, the official said.

He noted that terrorism is still a top national security threat in the international community, adding that alliance between Iran, Russia, Syria, Iraq and Lebanese Hezbollah movement is not temporary.

Shamkhani pointed to the decline of Daesh power in the past two years, and said that the terrorist group has missed major parts of its territory in Iraq and Syria, but this does not mean decrease of terrorism threat in the world.

The nature of Daesh threats has changed and the group has changed strategy from seizure of land to doing terrorist acts, he added.

Shamkhani said that due to change of security and strategic equations in the world, preserving the coalition between Iran and its allies is necessary.

He called establishment of de-escalation zones in Syria an important step forward to resolve crisis in the war-torn region.

Iran and Russia enjoy similar stance towards negative role of the US-led coalition in the region, Shamkhani said.
