The president made the remarks while receiving the credentials of Malaysian new ambassador to Tehran Dato Roslan bin Yahya, according to IRNA.
President Rouhani said that his last year trip to Malaysia had been positive in line with the expansion of ties between the two courtiers, stressing on the necessity to implement the Tehran-Kuala Lumpur agreements.
He added that Malaysia is especially important for Iran and hoped that the relations would quickly reach the expected level.
Calling Malaysia a “moderate” Muslim country, Rouhani said that extremism and violence are very dangerous for the Islamic world and the region.
He added Iran is ready to expand ties with Malaysia in different fields including energy and tourism.
The new Malaysian ambassador to Tehran presented his credentials in the meeting and said that Malaysia calls for strengthened and improved ties with Iran in every field, especially economy.
Bin Yahya added that all the agreements made on President Rouhani’s trip to Malaysia are being followed up.
