UWW praises Iranian broken ear champion

EghtesadOnline: United World Wrestling named Iranian prominent wrestler Hassan Yazdani as Iran's big surprise in 86 kilogram weight category.

“The Iran Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Pahlavani World Team Trials were held at Azadi Sport Hall in Tehran in front of more than 9,000 wrestling fans. The star of the second night was 2016 Olympic champion Hassan Yazdani, who competed at 86kg,” UWW website reported on Saturday.

“Yazdani won all of his bouts by technical fall except the semifinal match against 2015 world bronze medalist Alireza Karimi.”

“After beating Karimi 5-0, Yazadani downed 2013 world silver medalist Ezatollah AKBARI twice by technical fall in the 86kg final series.”

“Competing in new weight is a tough job, but I try hard to do like I did at 74kg,” UWW quoted Yazdani as saying.

“Iran Team Trials were full of surprises as Rio Olympic Games silver medalist Komeil Qasemi lost in the finals to youngster Yadollah Mohebbi at 125kg. Mohebbi won both of the finals matches by the score of 5-2.”
