UN, ECO make joint efforts concerning Iranian culture

EghtesadOnline: UN Representative and coordinator in Tehran Gary Lewis acknowledged about his meeting with head of ECO Cultural Institute and said that in the meeting the two sides discussed joint potential efforts on Iranian culture, he wrote in his Instagram post.

He voiced pleasure about his meeting with President of ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri and topics of discussions, IRNA reported.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute (ECI) was founded in 1995 and it's headquarters is in Tehran and is responsible to expand cooperation and cultural exchanges between ECO member-states.

ECO as a regional economic organization was founded by three countries of Iran, Pakistan and Turkey in year 1964.

In 1993, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan Republic, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan joined the organization.

The organization now has 10 members with around 330 million populations.

According to the Article of Association, ECO is trying to improve sustainable economic development for member states and gradual removal of trade obstacles in the region.

Among other goals of ECO is preparing common program for development of human resources in the 10 member-states.
