IMIDRO’s Report on Iran's Steel, Iron Output for 4 Months

EghtesadOnline: A total of 15 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced in Iran during the first four months of the current fiscal year (March 21-July 22) to register a 22% growth compared with last year’s corresponding period.

According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex accounted for 5.52 million tons of the total output, followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex with 2.97 million tons, Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 1.71 million tons, Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 1.84 million tons, Goharzamin Iron Ore Company with 1.47 million tons, Opal Parsian Sangan with 923,523 tons and Jalalabad Iron Ore Company with 216,560 tons.

The production of granulated iron during the same period stood at 1.95 million tons, up 27% year-on-year.

Pellet output hit 14.51 million tons, up 41% YOY. Golgohar was the largest producer with 4.26 million tons, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company with 2.57 million tons, Khouzestan Steel Company with 2.3 million tons, MIDHCO with 1.67 million, Chadormalu with 1.21 million tons and Khorasan Steel Company with 193,721 tons, Financial Tribune reported.

The production of direct-reduced iron stood at 7 million tons, up 11% YOY. Mobarakeh had the lion’s share with 2.39 million tons, followed by KSC with 1.24 million tons, Hormozgan Steel Company with 602,544 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 409,680 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 479,535 tons, Saba Steel Complex with 349,701 tons, MIDHCO with 301,848 tons, Ghadir Iron and Steel Company with 275,459 tons, Mianeh Steel Complex with 247,850 tons, Shadegan Steel Complex with 237,395 tons, Sefiddasht Steel Company with 180,186 tons and Esfahan Steel Company with 45,646 tons.

From the above raw material, a total of 6.28 million tons of slab, bloom, billet and ingot were produced during the period under review up 15% YOY. Mobarakeh Steel Company, with its subsidiaries Saba and Hormozgan Steel, was the biggest producer with 3.18 million tons. KSC came next with 1.28 million tons, followed by ESCO with 751,340 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 314,903 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 345,678 tons, Chadormalu Steel Company with 283,837 tons and Iran Alloy Steel Company with 129,240 tons. 

All producers posted growth for the period, with the exception of IASCO whose output dropped 14%. 

A total of 3.71 million tons of finished steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled coils, rebar, beams, pipes, wide and galvanized sheets were produced during the period under review, up 11% YOY. 

MSC and its subsidiary Saba Steel had the largest share of production with 2.3 million tons, followed by ESCO with 723,881 tons, Oxin Steel Company with 237,027 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 183,367 tons, Azarbaijan Steel Company with 86,684 tons, IASCO with 72,256 tons, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Automotive Sheet Company with 68.359 tons, Ahvaz Rolling and Pipe Manufacturing Company with 36,250 tons and INSIG with 2,620 tons.
