According to a blog post published Sunday on blog.cafebazaar.ir, there are 20,748 Android developers in the country who have published 157,849 Android apps.
According to the Android market report, during the last fiscal that ended in March, over 23,000 Android app developing teams in Iran generated 1.8 trillion rials ($12.85 million) in revenues.
Tehran is the center of gravity of Iran’s Android industry with 5,563 developers based in the capital and in satellite cities. Tehran Province is followed by Khorasan Razavi with 1,699 developers, Isfahan 1,564, and Fars 1,192, Financial Tribune reported.
The least developed province in terms of the Android industry is North Khorasan. Only 115 Android developers live in the northeastern province.
In the report, provinces are ranked based on their share in revenues. Tehran leads with a 54.06%, followed by Khorasan Razavi 14.64% and Isfahan 7.73%. There are 31 provinces in Iran; with the three exceptions, most other provinces have a meager share of less than 1% in the industry in terms of revenue.
The provinces are also ranked based on the number of applications developed by their resident app developers. Again Tehran dominates with 42,293 mobile apps followed by Gilan with 15,568, Khorasan Razavi (13,373) and Golestan (12,396).
Almost 33% of apps published on Cafe Bazaar offer cultural content, including educational material, religion-related multimedia services along with books and magazines.
Furthermore, 25% of the apps are games. Close to 6% of the published games on Cafe Bazaar fall in the action category, followed by adventure (2%), puzzle (2%), sports (2%), driving (2%), strategy (1%), and word games (1%).
Cafe Bazaar has 35 million active users and is the largest app publisher in the country.
