According to Director General of Amirabad Port Customs Office Amir Jamshidi, the exported commodities mainly included cement, construction material and ceramics, IRNA reported.
More than 2.51 million tons of goods worth around $713 million were imported into Iran through the port over the same period, registering a 27% growth in terms of both volume and value year-on-year.
Imports included corn, barley, iron products and different kinds of oilseeds for the most part, according to Financial Tribune.
Jamshidi also noted that 33,080 tons of goods worth more than $26 million were transited to and from littoral states of the Caspian Sea through Amirabad to register a 53% and 33% decline in tonnage and value respectively compared with the corresponding period of last year.
“Amirabad Customs Office earned more than 1,922 trillion rials (over $16.8 million) in revenues from customs duties over the period, which shows a 3% fall YOY. The main commodities in transit were steel products,” he said.
The Caspian Sea littoral states, apart from Iran, include Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Amirabad is the largest port facility on the Caspian shore and the third largest in Iran. The 1,000-hectare port has nine berths, which can accommodate Ro-Ro vessels, trains and trucks.
The port has the capacity for loading and unloading 7.5 million tons of cargo.
In a visit to Amirabad in 2017, Rouhani inaugurated the second development phase of the port, consisting of six new berths with a 4-million-ton capacity, as well as new facilities such as warehouses and grain silos.
Rouhani said the development of Amirabad will contribute to “effective trade relations” with the Caspian Sea littoral states and Commonwealth of Independent States, referring to its connection to Iran’s rail network as a big development for Iran’s economy.
