ICCIMA Hosts Tehran-Canberra Economic Conference

EghtesadOnline: A conference was held at Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture in cooperation with Australian Trade and Investment Commission and Iran-Australia Chamber of Commerce for exploring ways of promoting bilateral economic relations.

Australia's Ambassador to Iran Ian Biggs, Australia’s Trade Commissioner to Iran Mounir Sankary and honorary chairman of Iran-Australia Chamber of Commerce Asadollah Asgaroladi were present at the conference, along with economic players from both countries, ICCIMA's news service reported on Wednesday.

Iran traded 87,803 tons of non-oil commodities worth $140.65 million with Australia during the first nine months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 21), registering a 111.19% and 41.31% growth in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year's corresponding period, latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show. 

Iran’s exports to Australia stood at 12,474 tons worth $27.63 million, down 4.3% and 5.07% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year, Financial Tribune reported.

Iran mainly exported floorings, polystyrene, alabaster, dates and pistachios to Australia during the nine-month period.

Australia exported 75,328 tons of goods worth $113.01 million to Iran, up 163.94% and 60.49% in tonnage and value respectively YOY. 

The imports mainly included lamb, coal, machinery and pod vegetables.
