Backed by the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology and private companies, the new center is the fifth branch of a Tehran-based accelerator "Persisgen" Company, the website for the vice presidential office isti.ir reported.
Born in 2016 in Tehran, the parent company has branches in East and West Azarbaijan and Alborz provinces.
Persisgen, which is available on persisgen.com, supports tech teams working on medical biotechnology (the application of biotechnology science for producing medical products that can be used for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases) and regenerative medicine, according to Financial Tribune.
The Shiraz office will pave the way for early-stage technology startups in similar fields, focusing on production of herbal-based anticancer medicine, cosmetics, health products and supplements pills.
Services offered by the accelerator will also include education courses, mentorship, legal counseling and financial support.
