Iran’s ‘Flipping Filip’ Wins IMGA Award

EghtesadOnline: Iranian mobile game Flipping Filip, shortlisted for the 15th International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA Global), has earned the "Jury's Honorable Mention" award.

The IMGA website imgawards.com reported the competition results on March 19, according to which, Flipping Filip was announced the winner of the Jury's Honorable Mention award.

In the global event, Flipping Filip was among the 149 shortlisted games.

The other home-grown games making an appearance at the global event were “The Dark Wings 2”, “Harmony”, “Magnis”, and “O”, Financial Tribune reported.

Developed by the Iranian company Deedema Game Studio, Flipping Filip is a 2D puzzle adventure game. It is a unique combination of animation and game-play bringing new experience to the fast growing game industry.

The game is about Filip, a gloomy middle-aged man, who has two sides, and a sneeze is all it takes for him to turn into a superhero named Pilif. Initially, Filip struggles to get rid of his other side, so he can live his lonely life in peace, but an incident causes Filip to team up with Pilif against the antagonists of the story.

IMGA's Grand Prix award went to "Florence" from the US, the game also bagged awards of Excellence in Storytelling and the Best Meaningful Play.

"Cooking Diary" from Russia also won the People's Choice Award.

Nominees of the global event were the award-winning games in regional competitions held earlier.

Flipping Filip won six awards at IMGA Middle East/North Africa Edition (MENA) held in Jordan in October 2018.

Besides Flipping Filip, 11 other Iranian finalists won awards at IMGA MENA, including Fisher Boy, Electron, Harmony, Mr. Crow Don’t Open the Envelope, 41148, Irregular Mobile, Colimus, Sweet Lemon, The Dark Wings 2, King of Wealth, and Magnis.
