Greenhouse Crop Export Doubles to $500m in Fiscal 2018-19

EghtesadOnline: Some $500 million worth of greenhouse crops were exported from Iran during the last Iranian year (March 2018-19), which shows a more than twofold increase compared with the previous year.

The announcement was made by the head of Greenhouse Expansion Project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture on the sidelines of Iran Green Trade Fair, also known as IGTF 2019. 

“Plans are underway to increase the export of greenhouse products to $1 billion by the end of the current [fiscal] year [started March 21],” Valiollah Bani-Ameri was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

IGTF 2019 opened at Tehran’s International Exhibition Fairground on Thursday and will conclude till Saturday, Financial Tribune reported.

The Dutch envoy in Tehran Jacques Werner attended the opening ceremony. The Netherlands is among Iran’s main agrifood trading partners and has formed collaborations in many agro projects in Iran. 

Representatives from Germany, France, Spain, Azerbaijan and Jordan are taking part in the three-day event and showcasing their latest achievements in the fields of greenhouse technologies, flowers and plants, horticulture, modern irrigation systems, agro machinery and related industries.
