More than 3.74 million passengers and 35,208 tons of cargos were transported during the period, indicating a 12% and 10% decline respectively year-on-year, IAC's latest data published on its website show.
The latest IAC report also shows 25,854 takeoffs and landings were made by domestic flights during the month, down 12% compared with the similar period of last year.
More than 3.03 million passengers and 20,723 tons of cargo were transported domestically, indicating an 11% and 10% decline respectively YOY, according to Financial Tribune.
On the international front, 4,781 takeoffs and landings were registered, down by 21% YOY. A total of 704,254 passengers and more than 14,485 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, posting an 18% and 11% decrease respectively compared with the corresponding period of last year.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest Iranian airport during the period, with 10,359 takeoffs and landings, registering a 3% rise.
Close to 1.3 million passengers and 7,888 tons of cargo were handled at this airport, showing a 3% rise and a 26% fall respectively YOY.
Mashhad International Airport was the second busiest airport with 4,415 takeoffs and landings, indicating a 1% decrease. It transported 660,960 passengers and 6,143 tons of cargos, indicating a 1% and 9% decline respectively year-on-year.
Imam Khomeini International Airport registered 3,313 takeoffs and landings to register a 17% fall, while transporting 514,917 passengers and over 10,634 tons of cargos to be ranked third on the list of Iran’s busiest airports. The figures show a 22% and 19% decline YOY.
Iran Airports Company is an arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, which manages 54 airports across the country.
