Dehloran Gas Processing Plant on Track

EghtesadOnline: NGL 3100, an under-development gas venture to collect and process associated petroleum gas from oilfields in Ilam and Dezful, will be fed with as much as 6 million cubic meters of gas per day, the head of Iranian Central Oil Fields Company said on Wednesday.

"The much-needed feedstock for NGL 3100 or Dehloran natural gas processing plant will be supplied with the help of four gas pressure regulating and metering stations in Ilam Province," Ramin Hatami was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

Giving a breakdown, he noted that Dehloran, Paydar, West Paydar and Cheshmeh Khosh gas pressure stations will deliver 3 million, 600,000, 500,000 and 1.5 million cubic meters of gas to NGL 3100 respectively.

According to the official, the venture is being jointly financed by the Oil Industry Pension Fund Investment Company. The Oil Industries Engineering and Construction Company has been assigned to develop the project by 2021, Financial Tribune reported.

The gas processing unit, whose development came to a halt due to financial constraints, needs an estimated $1.55 billion.

Referring to OIEC's technical capability in undertaking natural gas liquid projects, he said NGL 3100 is the fifth plant undertaken by OIEC.

Natural gas liquids are components of natural gas, which are separated from the gas in the form of liquids in gas processing plants through absorption, condensation or other method.

Commenting on Dehloran refinery's advantages, the official added that the initiative will help cut APG in the region—a major source of pollution, as large amounts of harmful emissions are released in the environment through gas flaring.

"As soon as the plant goes on stream, 1,170 barrels of gas condensates, 2 mcm of sweet gas as well as 3 mcm of sour gas will be produced per day," he said, noting that NGL 3100 will receive its 6-million-cubic-meter feedstock from Dehloran, Cheshmeh Khosh, West Paydar and Azar Oilfields.

Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has highlighted Dehloran plant as one of the biggest gas projects in Iran, saying that a new petrochemical plant, whose feedstock will come from NGL 3100, will be established in the region.
