Investment volume in units with establishment permits and operating licenses shows a respective growth of 22.9% and a decline of 41.7% compared with the similar period of last year, the latest report released by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade shows.
Establishment Permits
A total of 10,551 establishment permits were issued over the five months under review, registering an 18.7% growth year-on-year. These projects are expected to create 248,191 jobs, which is 19.8% more compared with last year's corresponding period.
Yazd Province with 1,083, Semnan Province with 1,048 and Khorasan Razavi Province with 842 had the largest share of the establishment permits issued during the period, according to Financial Tribune.
Kerman Province, with close to 145.14 trillion rials ($1.27 billion) worth of estimated investments for 230 establishment permits, attracted the highest amount of investments.
The number of establishment permits issued for industrial units located in free trade and special economic zones decreased by 15.4% to 115. Investments worth 97.11 trillion rials ($851.84 million) are estimated to have been made in these projects to generate 5,973 jobs, registering a 51.9% and 28.1% fall YOY respectively.
The field of food and beverages saw the highest number of establishment permits (1,363) to create the highest number of jobs among other fields (32,218).
The highest amount of investment in these units is expected to be made in projects related to coke and oil derivatives production (close to $2.04 billion). The volume accounts for 20.8% of all investments to be made in projects, for which establishment permits were issued over the period.
Operating Licenses
A total of 2,399 operating licenses were issued during the period under review, which shows an 8.4% growth YOY. These projects are expected to create 38,797 jobs, 8.1% less compared with last year's corresponding period.
East Azarbaijan Province with 225, Isfahan Province with 213 and Tehran Province with 161 had the largest share of all operating licenses issued during the five months.
Tehran Province, with more than 44.1 trillion rials ($386.84 million), attracted the highest volume of investments in projects with operating licenses.
The number of operating licenses issued for industrial projects located in free trade and special economic zones stood at 128, indicating a 15.3% growth YOY. More than 17.17 trillion rials ($150.67 million) worth of investments were made in these projects to create 4,316 jobs, registering a 33.8% and 35.5% growth respectively YOY.
The field of food and beverages saw the highest number of operating licenses, namely 352.
The highest volume of investments in this regard were also made in projects related to food and beverages production ($490.13 million), accounting for 31.9% of all investments made in industrial units for which operating licenses were issued. The same field created the highest number of jobs (5,795) over the five-month period.
The number of greenfield projects for which operating licenses were issued stood at 1,262, some 90 of which were for those located in free trade and special economic zones. The remaining 1,137 permits were issued for the operation of brownfield projects, 38 of which were located in FTZs and special economic zones.
Mineral Production Permits
A total of 228 mineral production permits were issued during the period, registering a 3.4% fall compared with the similar period of last year.
These permits are expected to create 2.077 jobs, which indicate a 7.3% rise year-on-year.
The nominal mineral extraction capacity of the projects stands at 8.64 million tons, which shows a 4.4% decrease compared with the corresponding period of last year.
The provinces of Fars and South Khorasan with 23 each and Khorasan Razavi with 22 had the largest share of production permits issued during the period.
Mineral production permits issued over the five months under review are expected to create the largest number of jobs in Kerman Province (402), South Khorasan Province (206), Khorasan Razavi Province (98) and Fars Province (162).
The provinces of Khuzestan, Khorasan Razavi and Fars with a total of 1.4 million tons, 850,100 tons and 795,700 tons had the highest volume of nominal extraction capacities.
A total of 195 production permits were issued over the five months to register an 8.9% increase YOY.
Exploration costs stood at 321.9 billion rials ($2.82 million), registering a 59.1% increase YOY.
