More than 23.88 million passengers and 200,565 tons of cargos were transported during the period, indicating a 2% decline in both passenger and cargo transport year-on-year, IAC's latest report published on its website shows.
The report does not include data on Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, as the airport failed to submit data to IAC this month and the last one due to change in management, according to Financial Tribune.
A comprehensive report, including data from the IKIA airport,, is expected to follow soon.
The latest IAC report also shows 186,762 takeoffs and landings were made by domestic flights during the seven-month period, down 5% compared with the similar period of last year. More than 22.01 million passengers and 164,464 tons of cargo were transported domestically, indicating a 2% decrease in passenger transport and a 1% decline in cargo transport YOY.
On the international front, 13,926 takeoffs and landings were registered, down by 5% YOY. A total of 1.86 million passengers and more than 36,101 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, down 6% and 7% respectively compared with the corresponding period of last year.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest Iranian airport during the period under review, with 71,593 takeoffs and landings, registering a 5% decline.
Close to 8.53 million passengers as well as around 59,921 tons of cargo were handled at this airport, showing a 3% and 2% decrease respectively YOY.
Mashhad International Airport was the second busiest airport with 38,614 takeoffs and landings, indicating a 2% decrease. It transported a total of 5.71 million passengers, remaining unchanged YOY, and 54,337 tons of cargos, down 3% year-on-year.
Shiraz International Airport registered 17,828 takeoffs and landings to register an 8% decrease, while transporting 1.79 million passengers and over 19,355 tons of cargos to be ranked third on the list of Iran’s busiest airports. The figures show a 7% and 1% decrease respectively YOY.
From the seventh month's perspective (Sept. 23-Oct. 22), a total of 27,487 takeoffs and landings were registered, which indicate a 6% increase compared with the similar period of last year.
More than 3.3 million passengers and 25,211 tons of cargos were transported during the month, indicating a 12% and 8% rise respectively YOY.
The report shows 25,522 takeoffs and landings were made by domestic flights from Sept. 23 to Oct. 22, up 5% YOY. More than 3.06 million passengers and 21,273 tons of cargo were transported domestically, indicating a 12% and 11% increase respectively YOY.
On the international front, 1,965 takeoffs and landings were registered, up by 21% YOY. A total of 237,936 passengers and more than 3,938 tons of cargo were transported to and from overseas destinations, up 18% and down 2% respectively YOY.
Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport was the busiest Iranian airport during the one-month period as well, with 9,900 takeoffs and landings, registering a 5% decline.
Close to 1.2 million passengers as well as 7,735 tons of cargo were handled at this airport, showing a 5% and 15% decrease respectively YOY.
Mashhad International Airport was the second busiest airport with 5,091 takeoffs and landings, indicating a 19% decrease. It transported a total of 768,341 passengers and 6,820 tons of cargos, indicating a 17% and 22% decline respectively year-on-year.
Shiraz International Airport registered 2,321 takeoffs and landings to register a 10% decrease, while transporting 240,810 passengers and over 2,361 tons of cargos. The figures show a 13% and 22% decrease respectively YOY.
