3rd Smart Tehran Congress Underway

EghtesadOnline: The 3rd Smart Tehran Congress, which kicked off at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Monday, was attended by policymakers, urban managers and tech aficionados.

Key speakers at the opening ceremony of the event were ICT Minister Mohmmad Javad Azari Jahromi, Tehran Mayor Pirouz Hanachi, Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, Tehran City Council Chairman Mohsen Hashemi Rafsanjani and TM’s ICT Organization Chief Mohammad Farjood.

During the event, the municipality’s efforts for transforming the Iranian capital into a smart city were reviewed and future plans were outlined.

Several panels were also held on the sidelines of the event where stakeholders discussed obstacles to startups’ growth and development of smart development plans, according to Financial Tribune.

Speaking at the two-day event, Jahromi called on urban and national policymakers to expand their collaborations while Hanachi highlighted the municipality’s efforts for streamlining startups’ growth in the capital.

The First Smart Tehran Congress was held in 2017.

In the previous round of the event, Tehran City Council launched an open API portal to promote transparency, openness, local startup ecosystem and digital urban services.

Application Programming Interface is a package of codes that may or may not do a task independently. A well-designed API makes it easier to develop a computer program by providing all the building blocks, which are then put together by programmers.

The code packages are accessible through the website Api.data.tehran.ir. For using the service, developers need to send a request to Tehran Municipality.
