NIGC Indigenizes 25 MW Gas Turbine

EghtesadOnline: The National Iranian Gas Company has indigenized a gas turbine for use in domestic gas pressure stations, head of the company’s research department said.

"The 25 megawatt gas turbine was designed and built  jointly with the Oil Turbo Compressor Construction Company," Mohsen Mazloun Farsibaf was quoted as saying by ILNA.

The turbine (capable of transferring 35 mcm/d of gas) was installed in Dahagh compressor station in Isfahan Province and carries a 3-year warranty, according to Financial Tribune.

According to the official, the two firms (NIGC and OTCC) have joined forces to manufacture 27MW turbo compressors based on climatic conditions in the country.

Dahagh compressor station has expanded capacity of the fourth pipeline of Iran’s National Gas Trunkline (IGAT).

Stretching over 1,145 kilometers, IGAT-4 with a capacity of 110 mcm/d, transfers gas from South Pars Gas Field phases 1 to 5 in Assalouyeh to Fars and Isfahan provinces.

A total of 10 compressor stations boost the pipeline’s gas pressure along the way. The 56-inch pipeline transfers natural gas produced in at South Pars Gas Field phases 1 to 5 in Assalouyeh to Fars and Isfahan provinces.

Most of the compressor station’s equipment are manufactured domestically and the design, implementation and maintenance operations are carried out by Iranian engineers.

In related news, the Oil Ministry news agency said 18 stations for boosting gas pressure in Fars, Lorestan, Semnan, Kurdestan and Bushehr became operational last year.

According to Bahram Salavati, managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, eight more stations (mostly in Khuzestan Province) are under construction and will ready by March.

Not denying the adverse effects of US economic sanctions on Iran’s access to selected materials, he said domestic companies are doing all they can to help expand the grid, especially in rural areas by boosting production of special pipes and equipment.

“Even if we are able to make all the machinery, some goods have to be imported” and this why projects cannot be completed on time.

IGAT is a series of nine large diameter pipelines built to supply gas from refineries in the south (Khuzestan and Bushehr provinces) across the country.
