Kazem Gharibabadi added that the environment-friendly project is to be implemented amid the country's battle against the outbreak of COVID-19, Mehr News Agency reported.
Expressing gratitude to UNIDO and its Director General Li Yong and China, the Iranian envoy put the value of the project at €1 million, using UNIDO-China finance, Financial Tribune reported.
Back in November 2019, at the 18th session of the UNIDO General Conference in UAE, Deputy Industries Minister Barat Qobadian said Iran expects UNIDO to fulfill its responsibility for the industrial development of UN members and to actively participate in Iran's industrial development projects.
"Iran has many capabilities and capacities in various sectors, including human resources, natural resources and infrastructure," he said.
"One of Iran's main goals is to help domestic companies in different industries to collaborate with international companies and organizations for technology exchange."
The official stressed that Iran is ready to cooperate with other developing countries in industrial, technical and engineering sectors.
Qobadian noted that industry is one of the most important sectors of the economy as well as the basis of growth and development of any country, emphasizing that it is impossible to achieve economic development without achieving industrial development first.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that assists nations in growing and developing industry to reduce poverty. It is headquartered at the UN Office in Vienna, Austria, and is a member of the United Nations Development Group.
Since the 2013 Lima Declaration, UNIDO's mission has expanded to include promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, defined as benefiting greater numbers of people while safeguarding the environment.
