Limping Tehran Stock Exchange, Sheds More Points

EghtesadOnline: The main gauge of Tehran Stock Exchange added to the four-day losing streak on Sunday with its main gauge, TEDPIX, shedding 19,865 points.

The market-cap weighted TSE’s benchmark was down 2% to close trading session at 967,610, moving farther away from the 1,000,000 points reached on May 9.

Legal and institutional investors were the key players in Sunday’s session as they largely bent on the buy side.

They managed to partly revive the shares of giant listed companies in banks, refinery and petrochemical groups in the early hours of trading. However, their effort lacked clout and was not enough to cope with sell-off pressure.

About 10.8 billion shares valued at 105.18 trillion rials ($615.09 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Trading at TSE and over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.

Salemin Company (food industry) was the biggest winner as its shares went up 30.61% to 13,903 rials per share.

Shahroud Cement Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 9.51% to 17,918 rials per share.

Mobarakeh Steel Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by MAPNA Group, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Company and Iran Khodro Company.

The Price Index lost 5,055.54 points, or 1.93% to close at 257,488.06. The First Market Index went down 20,620.71 points, or 2.76% to post 726,154.82.

The Second Market Index was down 10,589.11 points, or 0.56% to reach 1,885,062.97. The Industry Index lost 14,738.86 points or 1.72% to register 844,519.63. Free Float Index was down 31,609.83 points to hit 1,228,247.69.

TSE 30 went down 1,397.67 points to settle at 41,550.81 and the TSE 50 ended 887.75 points lower to finish at 36,778.13.

IFX Down 0.96%

Iran Fara Bourse main index IFX lost 106.56 points or 0.96% to close Sunday trade at 10,955.78.

About 2.85 billion securities valued at 41.59 trillion rials ($243.21 million) were traded at the over-the-counter exchange for the day.

Esfahan Steel Company had the highest number of traded shares and trade value as 535.27 million of its shares worth 3.04 trillion rials ($17.81 million) were traded.

Saba Tamin Investment Company, Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company, Esfahan Steel Company and Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Zagros Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Damavand Power Generation Company, Iran Office Machines Industries Company and Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company.
