Iran Foreign Ministry Appoints New Spokesman

EghtesadOnline: The new Foreign Ministry spokesman officially assumed office on Sunday during a ceremony at the ministry attended by Iran’s chief diplomat, Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Saeid Khatibzadeh formerly served as deputy for study and research at the ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies and also worked as an Iranian diplomat in Germany and Canada, ISNA reported.

Khatibzadeh is the 12th Foreign Ministry spokesman of the Islamic Republic, taking the position after Abbas Mousavi quit the position to begin his term as Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan and will soon leave the country for Baku.

On Saturday, Mousavi met President Hassan Rouhani along with five other new ambassadors who presented a report of Iran's relations with their countries of mission and reaffirmed their commitment to work toward expanding the country's international cooperation.
