EghtesadOnline: A total of 343,178 tons of vitamin supplements worth $9.28 million were imported into Iran from 16 countries during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20-July 210), according to the spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration.

“The imports came from the UAE, Turkey, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, the UK, Canada, China, Belgium, Switzerland, the US, Italy, India, Luxembourg and Timor-Leste,” Rouhollah Latifi was also quoted as saying by IRIB News.

The main exporters were China with 23,548 tons worth $1.33 million, Turkey with 92,841 tons worth $1.27 million and the UAE with 22,529 tons worth $2.09 million.

“Some 95% of Iran’s domestic demand for medicine are produced inside the country. Yet, imports make up between 40% and 50% of raw materials required for pharmaceutical production,” he said.
