Ayatollah Taskhiri Passes Away

EghtesadOnline: Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, a member of the Assembly of Experts, died of heart failure on Tuesday at the age of 76 in Tehran’s Khatam-al-Anbya Hospital.

He represented Tehran Province in the top-level clerical assembly and was also a senior advisor on Muslim world affairs to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, ISNA reported.

Ayatollah Taskhiri had earlier served as the representative of Gilan Province and was also former president of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

In a letter of condolence, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the valuable services of the late cleric in international Islamic associations and described him as the “voice of Islam and Shiism”.

“His strong determination and highly motivated heart even overcame his physical inabilities in recent years, helping his effective presence to continue wherever needed and useful,” he said.

The Leader also highlighted Ayatollah Taskhiri’s domestic services as a prominent chapter of the committed cleric’s endeavors during his life.
