Kabul Hosting 2 Iranian Expos

EghtesadOnline: Iran and Afghanistan are running the first edition of Urban Services, Transportation, Traffic and Related Machinery Exhibition in Kabul.

According to Afghan Voice Agency, the event started on Sept. 22 and will run through Sept. 24. 

Tehran Deputy Mayor in International Affair Zoheir Sabaghpour is heading an Iranian delegation to the neighboring country including senior management teams with fire, waste and transportation departments of Tehran Municipality and contractors and companies involved in these sectors. 

Mayors of Iranian major cities including that of Isfahan are also participate in the three-day event. 

Transportation will be one of the major topics of interest of the exhibition; representatives of Tehran Municipality’s Bus Organization will take part in the event, Sabaghpour said, adding that, “Tehran Municipality is willing to share achievements it has gained in different fields like urban development with municipalities of large Afghan cities namely Kabul and Herat.” 

The first edition of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Technical and Engineering Services in Water, Electricity and Energy Sectors Exhibition is also being held concurrently with the above-mentioned event in Kabul. 

As many as 100 Iranian companies are showcasing their capabilities to pave the way for development of technical and engineering services as well as industries exports to Afghanistan, Head of Trade promotion Organization of Iran Hamid Zadboum said. 

“A trade delegation including 120 economic operators in energy and urban services sector will also attend the event,” he was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.

Latest data released by the Customs Administration of Iran show 2.6 million tons worth $871 million were exported from Iran to Afghanistan during the first five months of the current fiscal year (July 22-August 21), accounting for 8% of Iran's total exports to the neighboring country during the period.
