IranAir Flights to Europe Return to Pre-Pandemic Schedule

EghtesadOnline: IranAir’s scheduled flights to the UK, France, Austria, Germany and Italy are back to how they were before the outbreak of coronavirus, according to Hossein Jahani, director general of Public Relations Department of the country’s flag carrier airline.

“IranAir is currently offering scheduled flights on seven European routes. Flights to Germany’s Hamburg are being operated as per schedule on Tuesdays after months of suspension. As of Oct. 30, IranAir will resume fights to Cologne on Fridays. Weekly flights to Frankfurt resumed on Oct. 3 and continue on Saturdays and Wednesdays,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA recently.

Jahani noted that IranAir services restarted on Tehran-Vienna route on August 15 and continued on Saturdays from Imam Khomeini International Airport. 

Since Sept. 2, flights to Spain’s Madrid have been operated every Wednesday. Scheduled flight to London and Paris are being carried out regularly; aviation authorities of France, Britain and Austria announce new rules for travelling to their countries to IranAir’s passengers every few weeks. Milan in Italy is another European destination of IranAir to which flights have been scheduled. 

“Iran’s flag carrier airline offers charter flights to Italy’s Rome, Pakistan’s Karachi, Lebanon’s Beirut and Turkey’s Istanbul,” he said.

“For example, IranAir is going to operate flights to Karachi on Oct. 29, Nov. 12, Nov. 26, Dec. 10 and Dec. 24. Flights between Tehran-Istanbul and Tehran-Mumbai have yet to resume the pre-Covid schedule.”

He also noted that the airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran offers regular flights between Lar-Doha, Lar-Dubai, Lamerd-Dubai and Bandar Abbas-Dubai. Lar and Lamerd are cities in Iran’s southwestern Fars Province.

Latest data show IranAir operated 347 international flights during the fifth month of the current Iranian year (July 22-Aug. 21), to post a considerable growth of 64% after months of decline due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The airline transported 14,044 passengers on the international front during the period, registering a 30% rise compared with the preceding month, Fars News Agency reported. 

The flag carrier transferred a total of 191,555 passengers during the one-month period, to post a 37% increase compared with the month before. 

Iran Air Cargo, the company's division specialized in transporting cargo, carried 2.2 million tons of goods during the month under review on both domestic and international routes, registering a 26% increase compared with preceding month.
