EghtesadOnline: Khouzestan Steel Company exported 877,613 tons of slab, bloom and billet during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (March. 20-Oct. 21) to top the list of Iranian steel exporters.

The volume of export is 19% lower compared with the similar period of last year.

According to data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, KSC’s exports during the seventh month of the year (Sept. 22-Oct. 21) stood at 205,429 tons, up 150% year-on-year.

The data used in this report are based on preliminary statistics provided by IMIDRO on Iran's large-scale producers and lacks details on most private producers' shipments.

A more detailed report is usually published by Iran Steel Producers Association later.

The mills under IMIDRO survey collectively exported 3.20 million tons of semi-finished and finished steel products during the seven months to Oct. 21 to register a 21% decline compared with the same period of last year. This is while monthly figures indicate a 42% year-on-year rise in exports.

A surge in domestic demand as well as price controlling policies employed by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade are among key causes behind the fall in major steel producers' exports.
