Non-oil exports from Golestan Province stood at 381,566 tons worth $335.4 million in the last Iranian year, registering a 7% fall in terms of weight, but a 26% rise in value compared with the year before, according to Shahriar Shahriari, a local customs official.
Polystyrene, cheese, dates, iodine, iron pipes and profiles, raisin, particle board, tomato paste and compound polyethylene were the main exported products.
Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Romania, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Poland, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, China, Turkey, Azerbaijan and India topped the list of Golestan’s 34 export destinations during the period, IRNA reported.
Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Iraq accounted for 39%, 18% and 13% of the province’s total exports respectively.
A total of 41,109 tons of goods worth $74.1 million were imported to Golestan during the same period, registering a 102% and 10% rise in weight and value respectively.
The imports mainly included styrene monomer, soymeal, foots oil, diesel generator, different kinds of denim fabrics and gas-based generators for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat.
China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Britain, India, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Spain, Vietnam, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Iraq, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were the main exporters.
Shahriari noted that Golestan earned 2.7 trillion rials ($5.4 million) in customs revenue during the period, 275% more than the preceding year.
Golestan is located in northeast Iran and southeast of the Caspian Sea. It has six border crossings and neighbors Turkmenistan. The international Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran rail route passes through the city of Incheh Boroun in Golestan and facilitates exports, imports and transits through this northeastern Iranian province.
