Persian jumps two spots in world science language ranking

EghtesadOnline: Caretaker of Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) Mohammad-Javad Dehghani said that Persian language jumped two spots as a language of science in the world.

According to ISNA, based on the information extracted from Elsevier's Scopus, the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, position of Persian language as a science language in world went up by two spots in 2015 comparing to 2014 and now it is standing in the 15th place, he said.

According to Scopus, 92 percent of the world’s papers were published in English, it was then followed by China, winning 4 percent, Dehghani noted.

China is then followed by Spain, Germany and France, each winning one percent, he said.

He continued that Japan’s share hits 0.5 percent and Portuguese and Russian languages each 0.4 percent.

Then Italy comes with 0.2 percent and Persian’s share reaches 0.06 percent.
