Turkish security important for Iran, says envoy

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Ebrahim Taherian reiterated that security of the region and particularly Turkey is of importance for Iran.

“Presidents of Iran and Turkey have set $30 billion landscape for boosting the volume of bilateral exchanges. Therefore, we are obliged to make efforts to materialize the will,” he said in a meeting with Mehmet Görmez, Head of the Directorate for Religious Affairs (Diyanet).

According to ISNA, he also referred to the recent terror attacks in Turkey, Iraq and Syria, and said, “Security of the region and especially Turkey is important for Iran."

Fruitful fight against terrorism and extremism would come true by unity of Islamic states, he said, adding Turkey and Iran are playing an important role in this issue.

Mehmet Görmez, for his part, said, “We can participate in removing the Middle East and the Islamic World from the current crisis and establishing peace and stability in the region.”
