Iran content with nothing but full implementation of JCPOA: Senior official

According to IRNA, Director-General for Political Affairs and International Security Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hamid Baeedinejad made the remarks while speaking to reporters at a press conference on the occasion of the first anniversary of signing the JCPOA by Iran and the world six major powers (the US, Britain, Russia, China and France plus Germany).

Asked about Tehran's expectations from the JCPOA, Baeedinejad said, 'It is expected that all parts of the nuclear deal will be implemented.'

Baeedinejad who was a senior member of Iran negotiating team during the marathon talks which led to the JCPOA, added what Iran expected from the JCPOA is 'real and have been written in the agreement.' 

'Implementation of the JCPOA is recorded as a great change in the international arena,' said Baeedinejad adding many in the world believed that such agreement was unlikely to reach.

'We should have a realistic look at the JCPOA,' he said adding that the major point of the nuclear deal is that it ended nuclear problems.

Asked about the reason of souring of relations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's report to the UN Security Council, Baeedinejad said report of the UN chief has not been finalized yet.

'…the report is not complete and what has been released is a draft,' he said.

The official further noted that Tehran expected the UN chief to make a complete and comprehensive report because what has been made in the present report 'is not balanced.' 

Asked whether the JCPOA could prepare the conditions for strengthening Iran's defense capability, the senior official said missile capability of the country severs the nation's interests and is an important tool for defending Iran's territorial integrity. 

Iran's missile capability 'is a strong point for the region,' he stressed. 

Baeedinejad stressed that red lines of the country have never been crossed during the nuclear talks.

'No negotiator has the right to cross the red lines,' he said.
