EghtesadOnline: An oil official said Iran and France have agreed to cooperate on study works in Yadavaran oil field in southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan.

Hamid Reza Katouzian said Tuesday afternoon that the agreement has been signed between Iran's Research Institute of Petroleum Industry and French Institute of Petroleum (IFP).

According to IRNA, Katouzian, head of Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, said the two will cooperate in the area of upstream and downstream oil sectors as well as the environment.

After finalization of the agreement, the legal working groups will be formed to follow up serving the two sides' interests, the official said.

Iran and France did enjoy oil cooperation in the past, Katouzian said, adding that sanctions made a halt to that cooperation.

Anti-Iran sanctions were lifted on January 16, 2016.

Yadavaran is among biggest oil fields in the country. It is a joint oil field with Iraq.
