EghtesadOnline: Russia is ready to buy heavy water from Iran to help Tehran meet commitments under the comprehensive nuclear agreement with world powers, Alexey Karpov, Russia's deputy permanent envoy to international organizations in Vienna, Austria, said on Tuesday.

According to Karpov, Tehran does not have surplus heavy water storage space at present to maintain the agreed 130-ton limit, Sputnik reported. "We are ready to assist Iran in this area through the purchase of necessary amounts of this material, although this issue has not been discussed in detail so far," he said. According to Financial Tribune, under the terms of the July 2015 nuclear agreement, Iran must keep its stock of heavy water below 130 tons. Iran and six world powers, including the United States and Russia, signed the nuclear deal whereby Tehran agreed to limit its nuclear program for specified periods in exchange for sanctions relief. The landmark accord came into force in January.
