EghtesadOnline: President Vladimir Putin said in the upcoming talks with his Iranian and Azeri counterparts in Baku the trilateral talks will focus on fighting terrorism and terrorist groups and drug trafficking.

“Negotiations based on widespread cooperation against terrorism and drug trafficking will be the main pivots of talks between the three presidents,” President Putin was quoted as saying in a report by Kremlin on Friday.

According to IRNA, the Russian president warned against the intensified terrorist activities in the region, and said, “It is quite evident that we are concerned about the existing instability centers in Afghanistan and the Middle East countries which are close to Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan.”

President Putin said that transnational threats by international terrorism centers and gangster groups against different world countries are worrying, adding, “I reiterate that the recent terrorist incidents in different parts of the world once again showed that terrorism can be fought through cooperation and by relying on international criteria, principles and laws which forces the UN to play a coordinating and central role in this regard.

He underlined that double-standards should be avoided while fighting terrorism and it is necessary not to divide terrorists into good and bad ones, and said, “We should know that the efforts aimed at making use of the terrorist and extremist groups in line with realization of political and geopolitical goals is very dangerous and unacceptable.”
