Iran ranks 20th in Rio 2016 Olympic Games

EghtesadOnline: The gold medal of the Iranian weightlifter Sohrab Moradi has boosted Iran's standing in the 20th ranking in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal table on Sunday.

Iranian squad snatched its second gold medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as Moradi won gold in the men's 94-kilogram category with a world record after lifting a total of 403 kilograms. 

Moradi succeeded to beat Belarusian rival, who snatched the silver medal of competition with a total lift of 395 kilograms. 

On Aug 13, Kianoush Rostami won the first gold medal of Iranian squad in the Rio 2016 Olympics Games in the men's 85-kilogram category with a world record after lifting a total of 396 kilograms, reports IRNA. 

Currently, the US, with 21 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze medals, ranks first in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal table. 

Meanwhile, China, with 13 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals, ranks second and UK, with nine gold, 11 silver and six bronze medals, ranks third of the table. 

Germany, Japan, Russia, Australia, South Korea, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, New Zealand, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Croatia and Sweden rank fourth to 19th of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal table respectively.
