Rouhani: Iraqi national solidarity vital to uproot terrorism

EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that Iraqi national solidarity and cooperation among followers of different religions and ethnicities are vital to uproot terrorism in Iraq.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri.

Rouhani expressed pleasure with the widescale victories the Iraqi government achieved in the international campaign against terrorism, reports IRNA.

Rouhani said that Iran stood by Iraqi nation and government so far, it will do so until the end of fight against terrorism.

Rouhani said that post-JCPOA era created an appropriate opportunity to develop economic cooperation in all fields.

The president said that the two parliaments are expected to facilitate economic cooperation.

President Rouhani underlined the threats posed by menaces of terrorism to the region and the entire world, saying that unfortunately some countries in the region have fallen on wrong path under influence of the occupying regime of Israel.

President Rouhani called for regular consultations and cooperation by the two governments to help boost peace and stability in the region.

Jabouri said that development and deepening of economic cooperation between the two countries is necessary, calling for exploring the grounds and opening new horizons for economic ties to bring about welfare for the two nations.

He called for development of economic cooperation in line with the common interests of region, saying that the Iraqi parliament will support such trend.

Jabouri said that Iran has always stood by Iraq in fight against terrorism and played the most important role in this concern.

He presented a report on recent victories of Baghdad government against terrorism and said that there is no doubt that the victories were achieved under auspices of unity of all Iraqi people, including armed forces, popular forces from different tribes and ethnics in Iraq.
