Iran, Russia growing effective regional co-op: Deputy FM

EghtesadOnline: Iran and Russia are developing their effective cooperation that has brought positive outcomes in the region, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has announced.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari made the remarks in a meeting held in Moscow with Director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) Leonid Reshetnikov on Wednesday. 

Jaberi Ansari, heading a political delegation, is now in the Russian capital to hold talks with the officials here on regional questions including Syria as well as bilateral issues, reports IRNA.

The positive outcomes of Tehran-Moscow ties in the region are becoming brighter day by day, the Iranian official said.

He further noted that Tehran is determined to develop ties with Moscow as the Russian President Vladimir Putin follows strategic attitudes towards the regional developments.

He then stressed that Iran and Russia are two important countries that can play effective roles in the international arenas.

For his part, the Russian side said Moscow-Tehran regional convergence is valuable.

Reshetnikov said the two nations can create good opportunities for both themselves and the regional countries in line with national and regional interests.

Jaberi Ansari plans to meet with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Bogdanov on the latest developments in Syria, the situation there after the ceasefire in particular.
