Iran to hold Int'l Sea Expo

EghtesadOnline: The 4th International Sea Expo will be held in Tehran on September 24 in presence of companies from nine foreign states.

The World Maritime Day will be commemorated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on September 29 under slogan of 'importance of shipping safety and maritime security.'

Executive director of the 4th Sea Expo Gholamreza Rezaeian told IRNA on Wednesday that active diplomacy of the 11th government has created a new atmosphere for more maritime cooperation with other world countries and is an important test for presenting Iran's marine abilities and achievements.

In addition to the domestic companies, tens of foreign firms from Italy, Oman, Germany, Japan, France, Britain, South Korea, Kazakhstan and China are offering their latest products and services in the exhibition.

Rezaeian said that attracting foreign investors and access to modern marine technologies and protecting domestic capabilities to indigenize local industry are among goals of the expo.

In inauguration ceremony, Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhundi, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh as well as the Iranian and foreign trade and commercial delegations will attend.
